PRESS RELEASE –
For immediate release
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, May 8, 2018— Lack of available, quality interpreting services
creates communication barriers for people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Like everyone else, they need to be able to communicate in a variety of settings – personal and professional – and sometimes that need is immediate or unplanned.
ACS – Caption Family can accommodate those needs. Unlike traditional voice-to-text solutions or sign language services which require advance scheduling through a service, Caption Family provides services available on-demand through free downloadable mobile applications known as ACS Now. Depending on their individual needs, consumers can choose ACS Now CAP for a near verbatim solution utilizing steno, voice, or text interpreting; or ACS Now VRI for video remote interpreting. Affordable per-minute costs keep the services accessible to consumers, as well as to businesses that choose to make the service available to their clients, customers, or patients.
“According to the World Health Organization, today 466 million people live with profound hearing loss. And though we’ve made great strides towards making education, entertainment and the workplace more accessible to those who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing, there hasn’t been an effective way to meet the spontaneous or emergency need for communication that can arise every day,” says Philip A. Hyssong, CEO of the Caption Family. “Our new on-demand solutions are designed to help bridge that gap and provide access. Our goal is empowerment, and we believe this is a positive step toward that goal.”
ACS Now CAP and ACS Now VRI are planned for release this summer. The mobile applications will be available for free download on both iOS and Android.
